Uneven Pavements, Trip to Leh-Ladakh

My friend and I started talking about Ladakh a few months ago over a coffee while we shared our travel stories, It was surreal that I finally made it to Leh-Ladakh.

The quest to believe and understand the feel, and almost the touch of the littleness of my being for waht means to be alive, to be able to breathe, see, walk led me to this trip last month and I came back with more answers than I hoped to seek.

Leh-Ladakh in local language means the land of high passes and that fact hits you as quick as you land in Leh. A Buddhist kingdom tucked away in India's Northern border between China & Pak. You are practically surrounded by mountains everywhere you go. I went in September and there was slight snow on the hills.

When I first heard of Ladakh, it seemed to be a far away mysterious place, a mystically untouched where only monks lived disconnected with social norms. This entire journey revealed of what life on mountains looks like.

My journey through this city with minimal internet connectivity made me understand the meaning of Luxury. The only way I could connect and disconnect physically from this journey was the glimpses that I captured while I believe its hard to disconnect from this place soulfully.

We began the Road trip all the way from DelhiHeard stories of this place called Ladakh for the first time when I was in my teens. My friend's father who worked in Indian Air-force often told us about the Air-force, the Helicopters, the Army men, the mountains made me travel with my sense of self-imagination.

What astonished me the most is the Landscapes and the geography. The color, air, the sun seemed to be very distinct from what I have seen throughout my life.

Streets of a small village in Leh

The city is surrounded by mountains and every road seamlessly connecting to the untouched mountain. Quite a dry city with cold air and bright sunshine and a spread of Ladakhis, street stalls and tourists from all over the world. Waving to school kids on our way had been my favorite pastime. People wrapped with woollen clothes most of the time remains to be the style quotient.

Everyone at some point in their life must visit this place and it's totally worth it!
